Welcome to Snowdrop Counselling Services
Hello and welcome - I'm Lisa, a qualified counsellor and founder of Snowdrop Counselling Services, based at The Cleve in Wellington, Somerset. I believe counselling can be both life-changing and life-saving. Whether you're struggling with anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, or feeling overwhelmed, I'm here to listen and support you with warmth, empathy, and acceptance.
I offer a calm and confidential space where you can speak freely and feel genuinely heard - either in person or online, at a pace that suits you.
My counselling room is set in beautiful, tranquil surroundings overlooking the local area, with ample free parking, an onsite café, a comfortable waiting area, and close proximity to town centre amenities.
Please note: The building is older and has limited mobility access. If this presents a barrier, I'm happy to offer online therapy as an accessible alternative.
"Clients often tell me I'm just a 'normal person' - laid-back, kind, caring, compassionate... and someone who wears jeans with trainers."
I offer a free 20-30 minute consultation so we can get to know each other before you decide to begin sessions.

You may be here because something in your life feels difficult right now. Perhaps you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or simply not like yourself. You might be unsure about the future, but one thing you do know is that you don't want to carry on feeling this way.
Maybe you're facing a situation that feels isolating - where it seems no one truly understands. Or perhaps something from your past is resurfacing, and you feel ready to explore it more deeply.
Seeking counselling is a brave and courageous step. It's not always easy to ask for help, especially when it's hard to find the right words for how you feel. But taking that step can be the beginning of a deeply rewarding and transformative journey.
I can support you to explore and make sense of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, in a way that feels manageable and supportive. Together, we'll work at your pace to understand what's going on - and help you move forward.
I work with individuals aged 12 and above, and have experience supporting clients through a wide range of challenges, including:
Anxiety and panic
Depression and low mood
Autism and ADHD Neurodivergence
Trauma and PTSD
Relationship and family difficulties
Work and life stress
Low self-esteem
Abuse (past or present)
Grief and loss (including pet bereavement)
School or peer issues
I use Integrative Therapy, which means I draw on different counselling approaches and tailor them to suit you. I understand that everyone is unique and deserves support that reflects who they are.
That's why I offer a flexible, personalised way of working - adapting my approach to support your goals in a way that feels right for you.
We'll work together in a collaborative and down-to-earth way, using my knowledge and experience to support your unique journey.
I'd like to share a little of my own story, so you can get a sense of the person behind Snowdrop Counselling Services - and the experiences I bring to support you.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years as a Support Worker, supporting people of all ages. I began working with children in care, because I understood what it was like to be fostered and to be part of leaving care services. These lived experiences gave me real insight and empathy - qualities that now deeply inform my counselling work.
Later, I moved into respite care for children with special needs, and eventually into supporting adults with autism and challenging behaviour - a role I held for 7 years. These roles shaped my understanding of neurodivergence, trauma, and the many different ways people experience the world.
While working in these roles, I trained and qualified as a counsellor. In 2016, I began seeing clients through a local charity offering affordable counselling to adults. Although I enjoyed this work, I missed supporting younger clients, so in 2022, I moved to another charity specialising in therapy for people aged 12 and over.
In 2023, I followed my passion and founded Snowdrop Counselling Services.
Alongside my professional path, I've experienced many challenges of my own - including being a Looked After Child, periods of homelessness, financial hardship, and personal losses, including bereavement, pet bereavement, and living with depression and PTSD.
These experiences have given me more than just understanding - they've shaped who I am as a person and a counsellor. I know how hard life can feel sometimes. And I also know how transformative it can be to have someone truly listen, without judgment.
Today, my life looks very different. I'm happily married, a parent, a pet owner, and fortunate to feel settled and content. I now draw on both personal and professional experiences to offer therapy that is warm, grounded, and real.
If you're reading this and wondering if things can get better - I want you to know that they can. I hope that in hearing my journey, you'll feel encouraged to begin sharing your own.
Choosing the right counsellor is an important decision. That's why I offer a free 20-30 minute Initial Assessment, to help you decide if counselling feels right for you and if I'm the best fit to support you.
After contacting me, I'll respond with my availability and we'll agree on a convenient time for your Initial Assessment. During that session, I'll ask for some basic personal details, explore what has brought you to counselling, and talk about what you'd like to achieve. I'll also explain how I work and confirm the agreed fee.
If you feel ready to begin counselling, we'll arrange regular sessions - typically weekly. I'm flexible and understand that shift work or other commitments may require us to find a time that suits you.
There's no set number of sessions; you decide how long you want to continue. When you're ready to finish, we'll plan your ending together, so that it feels supportive and complete.
One-to-one counselling, either in person or online via Google Meet: £50 per 1-hour session
Student and low-income rates are available starting from £30 (Please contact me as spaces are limited)
